Pairs well with

VIOFO A329SW 3-Channel 4K Front + 2K Waterproof Rear + 2K Infrared Cabin Dash Cam
The VIOFO A329SW 3CH is built for situations where recording only the road ahead is not enough. It combines a 4K front camera, 2K waterproof rear camera and 2K infrared fisheye cabin camera, recording all three channels simultaneously at 30fps.
The front camera uses a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor, while the rear and interior cameras use Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensors. HDR is supported across all three channels, helping the cameras retain useful detail across challenging bright and dark areas.
The unusual part of this configuration is the rear camera. Rather than being restricted to mounting behind the rear windscreen, the IP67-rated waterproof camera is designed for exterior installation, making the A329SW particularly useful for pickups, vans, trucks and vehicles where the rear glass is tinted, unavailable or unsuitable for a conventional interior-mounted rear camera.
Inside, the 210° fisheye cabin camera adds another layer of coverage, with infrared illumination for low-light recording.

Why This Dashcam Matters
A dashcam is more than a camera mounted on your windscreen.
It is a record of what happened when something went wrong.
An accident. A disputed incident. A hit-and-run. Damage discovered after leaving the car park. A close call that suddenly becomes difficult to explain.
When you need the footage, the important question isn't simply whether your dashcam says 4K on the box.
It is whether the system captured the right information at the right time.
That means looking at the complete system: image quality, camera coverage, low-light performance, parking protection, storage, connectivity and how practical the camera is to use every day.
Understanding Dashcam Video Quality
Resolution is only part of the picture
Resolution determines how much visual detail the camera can capture, but it does not tell the whole story.
A camera with a higher resolution can potentially capture finer details, but the final image is also influenced by the image sensor, lens, aperture, exposure, image processing and lighting conditions.
When reviewing dashcam footage, useful details can include:
- Number plates
- Road signs
- Traffic lights
- Vehicle positions
- Lane markings
- Pedestrians
- Road conditions
- Details surrounding an incident
This is why Alexa Dashcams doesn't treat every camera with the same resolution as equivalent.
The specifications for each individual product tell you what the camera actually uses. This section explains why those specifications matter.
Daytime and nighttime are different challenges
A bright sunny road can create harsh reflections and extreme differences between light and dark areas.
At night, the camera has to deal with much less available light, headlights, street lighting and deep shadows.
Technologies such as HDR, WDR and modern low-light image sensors are designed to help cameras deal with these conditions.
The important thing is not simply whether a camera has a particular marketing label.
It is how the complete imaging system is designed to perform in the conditions you actually drive in.
What Makes a Good Dashcam?
Don't judge a dashcam by one specification
It's easy to compare cameras by looking at one number.
4K sounds better than 2K.
512GB sounds better than 128GB.
Three cameras sound better than one.
But the right choice depends on the complete system.
A practical way to evaluate a dashcam is to ask:
How well does it record?
Look at resolution, sensor, lens and HDR/WDR capabilities.
What does it record?
Consider front, rear, interior or other camera coverage.
How does it perform when conditions get difficult?
Look at low-light and night-recording technology.
What happens when the car is parked?
Check the available Parking Mode and power requirements.
How easy is it to use?
Consider the screen, app, Wi-Fi, controls and file-transfer options where applicable.
What happens to the footage?
Check storage capacity, supported memory cards, loop recording and event protection.
Can you access the vehicle remotely?
If this matters to you, look at the camera's actual connected and Cloud capabilities.
The best dashcam isn't necessarily the one with the biggest specification sheet.
It's the one whose capabilities match the way you use your vehicle.
